Stinchcombe Church Yard contains three large tombs grouped together.  The tomb nearest to the Church is that of John Browning, who died August 20 1711 aged 70. Richard his son died March 1705

 

 

On the outer (road) side of the tomb is inscribed: In memory of - Mary relict of John Browning - Of this faith who died - September 4 1727 aged 82 - And also of John son of said John & Mary Browning aged 24.

The middle tomb has several inscriptions: - In memory of - John Mabbott of Coaley - Who died March 24 1721 - Aged 71 years. 

On the end of the tomb: - In memory - Of John Mabbett - Who died Sept. 23 1722 - Aged 26.  On the (road) side of the tomb: - THOMAS MABBETT - Who died July 23 1731 - Aged just 26 - Our comforts soon decrease....

Mabbett tomb.jpg (65313 bytes) The tomb furthest from the Church bears the following: - This TOMB - is dedicated to the Memory of - JOHN MABBETT - of this parish who departed this life - March 22 1792 aged 72 years.
