With the grass pulled back the domed stone is surprisingly well preserved and the wording still legible. It reads: -

SACRED

To the Memory

of William Mabbot

who died July 11th 1852

Aged 29 years.

Just in my prime Death crops my time

And laid me in the dust

So parents dear pray prepare

for follow me you must.
